Meerut Murder: Police Uncover Chilling Details in Cement Drum Killing Case

In a case that has stunned residents of Meerut and beyond, police have shared key findings in the brutal murder of a former Merchant Navy officer, Saurabh Rajput. The 32-year-old was found dead, his body chopped into 15 pieces and hidden inside a cement-sealed drum. The shocking discovery was made days after his return from the UK, where he was employed at a bakery.

His wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her friend-turned-alleged-accomplice, Sahil Shukla, were arrested after a brief disappearance to Himachal Pradesh. Both have reportedly confessed to the crime.

Unfolding Motive and Past Tensions

Police believe the motive stemmed from a longstanding extramarital affair between Muskaan and Sahil. The affair reportedly began in 2019 and came to Saurabh’s attention by 2021. Although he had initially filed for divorce, family pressure led him to reconsider the separation.

Muskaan claimed Sahil had become financially dependent on her family and also struggled with alcohol addiction. According to her police statement, their relationship had grown strained.

A failed attempt to kill Saurabh on February 25 was followed by the successful execution of their plan on March 3. The murder was described by police as premeditated and carried out with chilling precision.

No Evidence of Black Magic

The gruesome nature of the murder led to public speculation about occult involvement. However, police have found no evidence supporting claims of black magic. Superintendent of Police Ayush Vikram Singh emphasized that the murder appeared to be methodical and deliberate, with no mystical elements involved.

Authorities recovered the weapon used and identified the shop from where the drum and cement were purchased. Investigators are preparing to travel to Shimla for further leads.

Financial Disputes Under Scrutiny

Muskaan claimed that Saurabh had around ₹6 lakh in his account, a portion of which was transferred to her and his mother shortly before his death. These transactions are under investigation. Police are also probing allegations by Saurabh’s family that his in-laws used his earnings to purchase property and luxury items.

His professional background, including his employment timeline and educational qualifications, is also being verified as part of the wider investigation.

The Landlord’s Tip-Off and the Daughter’s Words

The murder came to light when the landlord, attempting to vacate the property, noticed a foul smell emanating from the sealed drum Muskaan claimed was filled with junk. Disturbed by the odour, he alerted the police.

In a tragic twist, Saurabh’s six-year-old daughter reportedly told neighbours, “Papa is in the drum,” suggesting she may have witnessed or overheard aspects of the crime.

Legal Action and Charges Await

Two teams have been assigned to investigate the case thoroughly. The mobile phones of the accused have been sent for forensic analysis, and police aim to file a chargesheet promptly.

SP Ayush Vikram Singh has assured that all possible evidence is being collected to ensure the accused face the harshest punishment under the law.

This case, with its disturbing mix of betrayal, premeditation, and psychological trauma, continues to grip public attention, highlighting complex intersections of domestic discord, financial pressure, and criminal intent.
