Meerut Murder Case: Pre-Meditated, Brutal Killing; Shocking Details Surface in Gruesome Meerut Murder
The investigation into the brutal murder of Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer and UK-based bakery worker, continues to reveal deeply disturbing details. Rajput’s wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her alleged partner, Sahil Shukla, are in police custody after reportedly confessing to the murder that has sent shockwaves through Meerut and beyond.
A Carefully Orchestrated Killing
According to the findings shared by investigating officers, Muskaan and Sahil had plotted the murder days in advance. Eight days before the killing, Muskaan reportedly purchased two knives for ₹800 and rehearsed how to stab a person repeatedly. Doubting her ability to carry out the act effectively, she later acquired a cut-throat razor—a weapon ultimately used to inflict fatal wounds.
On the night of March 3, after allegedly drugging Saurabh with sleeping pills, Muskaan is said to have stabbed him multiple times before using the razor to slit his throat. Sahil, according to police sources, then severed the victim’s head and assisted in dismembering the body into 15 parts. The remains were packed into a plastic drum and sealed with wet cement.
An Attempt to Conceal the Crime
Initially, the accused had considered using soil to cover the remains and planned to plant a sapling in the drum. However, fearing the odour from decomposing remains, they shifted to using cement to seal the drum. But the plan failed when labourers called to help dispose of it found the drum too heavy to lift. With their plan collapsing, Muskaan is said to have broken down and confessed to her parents, who subsequently alerted the police.
Motive Rooted in Addiction and Betrayal
Investigations suggest that drug abuse and an extramarital affair lay at the core of the motive. Muskaan and Sahil were allegedly frequent users of intoxicants, a lifestyle that Saurabh, who had learned of the affair and was considering divorce, may have tried to prevent. The couple had married in 2016, but their relationship deteriorated over time. Police say Saurabh stayed back in the marriage for the sake of their six-year-old daughter.
He had returned to India in February to celebrate his daughter’s birthday and was planning to take his family back to London. When Muskaan declined to move abroad, Saurabh had decided to take only his daughter and had already initiated the passport process. This reportedly triggered a breakdown in the relationship and may have accelerated the murder plot.
Police Continue Investigation
Authorities have since recovered the weapons used in the murder and confirmed that Muskaan and Sahil confessed during interrogation. The police are verifying the couple’s statements and gathering further forensic and digital evidence. They are also tracing the shops from where the knives and cement were procured.
With the suspects in custody and confessions recorded, law enforcement officials say they are preparing a watertight chargesheet to ensure the harshest legal consequences. The case continues to draw national attention, not just for its gruesome nature but also for its complex web of betrayal, addiction, and premeditated violence.
