Promising IIM Bengaluru Student Succumbs to Cardiac Arrest at 27

The academic community of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bengaluru is in mourning after the tragic loss of one of its brightest stars.

Ayush Gupta, a 27-year-old scholar who was navigating his second year in the esteemed Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in management at IIM Bengaluru, tragically passed away due to a sudden cardiac arrest. The institute conveyed its heartbreak via X, the microblogging platform formerly recognized as Twitter.

“We are deeply saddened by the demise of Ayush Gupta, our second-year PGP student, who suffered a cardiac arrest, this afternoon. Ayush (27) was senior coordinator of the Student Alumni Committee of PGP,” shared IIM Bengaluru.

With a promising academic track, Ayush had earlier interned at Faering Capital during his summer recess. “A graduate of BITS Pilani (2017), Ayush was pursuing his MBA at IIMB and had completed his summer internship at Faering Capital. Popular among his classmates, he also worked closely with the alumni of the Institute,” revealed the institute, underscoring his impact and affiliation with IIMB’s alumni network.

Outpouring of Grief and Memories

Ayush’s demise has not only affected the academic circles but also stirred emotions among his peers, as evident from various heartfelt tributes. IIM Bengaluru echoed the sorrow on LinkedIn, where many shared memories and tributes to the departed soul.

“The smile that you see in the picture was his signature. It would have been hard to forget Ayush – he would have made a mark in the world of business. It is hard to forget him now too. I would miss his many sterling qualities, including his genial temperament,” reminisced a user.

Others conveyed their shock, expressing, “Deeply saddened such a blissful soul coming to an end at 27 years where he was about to make a difference in the world,” and, “Tragic and heartbreaking! One of the most talented and liveliest person I knew. It doesn’t sink in”.

The loss resonated with many, as another individual shared, “The most cheerful, positive and curious person I have met for sure! You will forever be missed Ayush. May your soul rest in peace! I am sure you are out there making new people laugh already!”

The sudden demise of such a bright student serves as a stark reminder of life’s unpredictable nature and the importance of cherishing each moment.
